Tape & reel packaging

Tape and reel packaging describes a process were stamped components, also referred to as surface mount devices (SMDs), are packed into a preformed tape with individual pockets, and used in the volume manufacturing of printed circuit boards (PCB). The tape is reeled on a spool of the customers' specification and then shipped to the board assembler. The reels are then loaded into an automated pick and place machine that will populate printed circuit boards for countless application
